Ten To Sen テントセン (Point And Line) Seating And Waste Receptacle

Ten To Sen テントセン (Point And Line) Seating And Waste Receptacle

Ten To Sen テントセン (Point and Line) Seating and Waste Receptacle is an innovative architectural furniture design that seamlessly integrates seating and waste management functionality into public spaces through sophisticated geometric principles. This distinguished design, which earned the Platinum A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a remarkable fusion of form and function through its geometric extrusion of points and lines, creating elements that are simultaneously iconographic, ornamental, and practical. The design employs a sophisticated fabrication process utilizing digital modeling software, where linear patterns are projected onto lofted surfaces and subsequently extruded and thickened to accommodate material properties and structural requirements. The construction methodology involves the precise CNC milling of five unique profiles from ¾-inch sheet material, which are then carefully laminated to create the final forms. Measuring 2076 mm x 3073 mm x 813 mm, these fixtures demonstrate exceptional innovation in their assembly technique, utilizing standardized components through simple lamination processes to achieve distinctive formal characteristics. The design's evolution process notably embraced the challenges of material imperfection and human error, incorporating these elements into solutions that enhanced the final product rather than attempting to mask them. This approach resulted in a more refined and practical design that maintains its aesthetic integrity while serving its intended public function. The fixtures were specifically conceived to create visual and experiential continuity in urban landscapes, exemplifying how contemporary design can enhance public spaces through thoughtful integration of functional elements.
