CURVE Residence

CURVE Residence is an innovative architectural and interior design project that exemplifies the sophisticated integration of curved elements in residential spaces. Located in Shanghai, China, this 3,500-square-foot residence, completed in 2011, showcases a masterful exploration of curvilinear forms throughout its design composition. The project, conceived and executed by design director Kris Lin, employs a minimalist material palette primarily centered on white tones to emphasize its distinctive curved elements. The interior's most notable feature is a striking U-shaped configuration in the dining hall, where the seating arrangement and backrest create both form and spatial definition. The design's sophisticated circulation is highlighted by a sculptural staircase that winds elegantly from the third floor to the first, featuring a seamlessly curved handrail that exemplifies the project's commitment to fluid forms. The material selection, including volakas and white pearl paint accented with carbon-colored stainless steel, creates a refined aesthetic that enhances the curved architectural elements. The project's excellence in interior space design was recognized with a Platinum A' Design Award in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial organization and aesthetic achievement.
