The Fig Leaves Collection Designed ObjectsThe Fig Leaves Collection Designed ObjectsThe Fig Leaves Collection Designed Objects is an innovative series of ambient lighting fixtures and decorative bowls inspired by the organic forms and characteristics of fig tree leaves, designed by Jordanian designer Racha Tarazi. This collection, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a unique intersection of natural inspiration and contemporary design aesthetics. The collection comprises two distinct product lines: lighting fixtures featuring hand-assembled interlocking acrylic leaves that create mesmerizing light patterns, and decorative bowls available in Swift and Energetic variations crafted from 18/10 brushed stainless steel. The lighting fixtures, available in tall (140cm) and short (45cm) versions, incorporate LED technology and feature sculptural forms that maintain visual interest even when unlit, while offering customizable ambient lighting through color mixing capabilities. The bowls, ranging in size from 20cm to 57cm, showcase distinctive design energies through their form and finish, with each piece being uniquely hand-welded to embrace manufacturing imperfections as part of their aesthetic appeal. The collection's design philosophy emphasizes handcrafted production methods over machine manufacturing, supporting environmental sustainability and local craftsmanship. This approach not only ensures each piece's uniqueness but also reflects a commitment to combining modernist design principles with low-tech, locally sustainable production methods. The collection's development, which began in 2010 in Amman, Jordan, demonstrates how childhood memories and natural observations can be transformed into functional art pieces that enhance living spaces while maintaining a strong connection to their botanical inspiration.
