Foo HomeFoo HomeFoo Home is an exemplary residential interior design project completed in Hong Kong's Mid-levels district, showcasing a masterful transformation of a 3,300-square-foot apartment into a sophisticated gallery-like living space. This innovative design, created by Eric Leung, harmoniously balances modern aesthetics with intimate comfort, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design category. The project, completed between March 2012 and December 2013, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its conversion of a traditional five-bedroom split-level apartment into an open, flowing environment that seamlessly integrates public and private spaces. The design's distinctive features include deliberately uneven cement-like floors contrasting with luxurious creamy crocodile-look wallpaper, creating an intriguing interplay of textures and materials. The interior architecture incorporates innovative solutions for concealed storage spaces and employs a continuous spatial flow where rooms naturally progress into one another. A striking juxtaposition of materials, including teak wood, concrete, and metal elements, creates visual interest throughout the space, while the thoughtful integration of the owner's retro-modern furniture and art collection enhances the gallery-like atmosphere. The design cleverly incorporates a flexible 800-square-foot private domain that can transform between an open space and three distinct rooms through hidden doors and curtains, demonstrating exceptional versatility in spatial planning. The dramatic entrance sequence, featuring an all-black marble lift lobby that transitions into lighter spaces, exemplifies the design's sophisticated approach to spatial narrative and demonstrates why this project was honored with the prestigious A' Design Award, which recognizes exceptional achievements in design innovation and excellence.
