S-Clutch S-clutch Street BenchS-Clutch S-clutch Street BenchS-Clutch S-clutch Street Bench is an innovative urban furniture design that represents a harmonious fusion of functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal in public spaces. Drawing inspiration from clutch bags and incorporating multiple meanings in its name (Shelter, Stray, Street, Sunshine, and Space), this sophisticated street bench was designed by Helen Brasinika and Anastasia Rokkou in 2011. The bench features a distinctive parametric design realized through advanced NURSS programming, comprising a 7mm fiberglass main body in a vibrant lollipop pink color and an extruded aluminum structural framework. Measuring 160mm in length with an aluminum upper section reaching 160mm in height from the ground, the bench is engineered for permanent installation through a secure anchoring system. The design incorporates innovative features including integrated LED lighting powered by solar film technology, providing ambient illumination during nighttime hours. Its hollow body serves as a shelter for stray animals while offering multiple usage scenarios for human interaction, including seating and bicycle parking capabilities. The bench's ergonomic design promotes social interaction while addressing practical urban needs, exemplifying sustainable design principles through its use of solar energy and durable materials. This street furniture piece, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category, represents a significant contribution to urban design by combining practical functionality with playful aesthetics, creating a more humane and sustainable city environment.
