Grille Barbeque RestaurantGrille Barbeque RestaurantGrille Barbeque Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the successful transformation of an industrial space into a contemporary dining establishment, demonstrating excellence in adaptive reuse and spatial optimization. Located in the northern region of Macau, this remarkable renovation project converted a former motorcycle repair shop into an artisanal barbecue bistro, showcasing sophisticated design solutions within significant spatial and budgetary constraints. The design, which earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully preserves the industrial character of the original structure while creating a warm and inviting dining atmosphere. The project's distinctive approach maintains the raw architectural elements, featuring restored concrete walls and ceilings with an intentionally unfinished texture, complemented by exposed sealed concrete flooring. The design successfully accommodates 40 seats within a compact 44-square-meter dining area, achieving optimal space utilization through careful planning and innovative layout solutions. The interior design scheme employs a thoughtfully curated color palette that contrasts with the industrial shell, creating a balanced environment that enhances the dining experience while honoring the space's historical context. This project, designed by Yu-Ngok Lo, AIA, LEED AP, demonstrates exceptional expertise in working within strict parameters, combining minimalist architectural articulation with practical functionality, and represents a significant achievement in contemporary restaurant design, particularly in the adaptive reuse of industrial spaces for hospitality purposes.
