A White Statue Floating On The Water RestaurantA White Statue Floating On The Water RestaurantA white statue floating on the water Restaurant is an innovative architectural masterpiece completed in 2010, situated within the Sistan & Baluchestan university campus in Zahedan, Iran, that exemplifies a harmonious blend of functional design and cultural sensitivity. This remarkable 3,000-square-meter structure, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a groundbreaking approach to addressing complex social and environmental challenges while creating an aesthetically striking dining facility. The design ingeniously divides the space into two distinct volumes, accommodating cultural requirements while maintaining architectural unity through its distinctive white travertine stone and glass exterior. The building's most notable feature is its folded skin design that appears to emerge organically from the landscape, creating a floating effect enhanced by its reflection in the surrounding water features. The restaurant's innovative spatial organization incorporates two dining salons, each capable of accommodating 400 people, with carefully planned service areas including kitchen and storage facilities. The structure's response to the harsh climate of Zahedan, situated 1,352 meters above sea level, is particularly noteworthy, employing natural ventilation strategies through the integration of water features and green spaces to create comfortable interior environments. The transparent glass facades capture and reflect light while offering views of the surrounding landscape, creating a dynamic interplay between interior and exterior spaces. The project's dimensions of 90,000mm length, 40,000mm width, and 9,000mm height create an imposing yet elegant presence that successfully balances the need for institutional presence with cultural sensitivity and environmental responsibility.
