The Marrow Of Tradition Dessert ShopThe Marrow Of Tradition Dessert ShopThe Marrow of Tradition Dessert Shop is an innovative interior design project located in Taichung, Taiwan, that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional aesthetics with contemporary spatial design principles. Conceived by designers Su-Hsiang Hung and Hsien-Hui Chen, this 465-square-meter establishment represents a thoughtful departure from conventional urban dining spaces, creating a serene sanctuary that draws inspiration from classical Chinese literature, particularly Yuan Ming Tao's Peach Blossom Spring. The design's distinctive features include a carefully crafted wooden pallet fence at the entrance, which establishes an immediate connection with visitors while maintaining an elegant spatial flow. The interior architecture demonstrates sophisticated planning through its arc-designed counter, which effectively extends the spatial dimension and creates an enhanced sense of openness. The color palette combines lively green accents with warm, pale wood tones, while the dining area employs a deliberate contrast between dark and light wood elements to create visual depth. A particularly noteworthy element is the second-floor mural that narrates the proprietor's journey, incorporating storytelling into the spatial design. The project, which was completed in 2017, earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, acknowledging its excellence in creating a unique commercial environment that transcends typical dessert shop design conventions. The space successfully achieves its objective of creating a utopian atmosphere where patrons can escape the urban bustle and reconnect with their inner peace, facilitated by thoughtful material selections and innovative spatial arrangements.
