Decade The Love Coffee House

Decade The Love Coffee House is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of coffee culture, music appreciation, and contemporary aesthetics within a compact 60-square-meter space. Completed in 2019 by designer Yong Zhang in collaboration with Xin Ma, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning establishment represents a significant advancement in retail interior design, particularly in creating culturally enriched coffee house experiences. The design masterfully addresses spatial constraints through ingenious architectural solutions, featuring classic white-orange terrazzo finishes and mirrored stainless steel elements that create an illusion of expanded space. The entrance is distinguished by its thoughtful display of vintage records, complemented by sculptural elements holding customized coffee cups, establishing a strong cultural narrative from the outset. The interior's sophisticated design language incorporates linear lighting systems and a sunken space transition, effectively delineating different functional zones while maintaining spatial fluidity. The transparent dessert cabinet and bar area offer visitors an intimate view of the coffee-making process, embodying the establishment's commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship. This design project, which earned recognition at the prestigious A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully transforms a narrow street-front space into a cultural haven that celebrates slow living and artistic appreciation.
