The City Over Clouds Law Firm Office

The City Over Clouds Law Firm Office is an exemplary architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates classical Roman architectural elements with contemporary aesthetics, situated in Guangzhou, China. This 1,800-square-meter space, completed in 2019, draws profound inspiration from Italian architect Carlo Scarpa's philosophical approach to materiality and form, manifesting in a sophisticated design that harmoniously blends functionality with artistic expression. The office's distinctive entrance features Roman-inspired arches that evoke the birthplace of law, creating a sense of gravitas and ceremonial significance. The interior space is characterized by its innovative use of materials, including natural blue stone, white ceramic paint, and both corrugated and smooth stainless steel plates, complemented by a sophisticated slim lighting system. The design's most striking feature is its creative interpretation of clouds through blue carpeting with wave patterns and strategic lighting, symbolizing the office's elevated position and global perspective. The space makes exceptional use of its location near Liede Bridge, offering panoramic views of Pearl River New Town, while incorporating design elements that represent the intersection of global vision and local wisdom. The project, which won a Gold A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its execution, from the carefully considered lighting solutions that can change colors to create different atmospheres, to the thoughtfully designed workspaces that promote both solemnity and vitality. The design's sophisticated interplay of materials, forms, and lighting creates an environment that successfully balances professional gravitas with approachable elegance, embodying the dual principles of being both authoritative and accessible.
