Masstone Boutique is an innovative retail space that revolutionizes the traditional concept of fashion boutiques through its distinctive architectural approach of integrating a garden within its interior design. Located in Taiyuan, China, this 520-square-meter, two-floor establishment represents a significant departure from conventional retail design paradigms by dissolving stereotypical style constraints and embracing essential spatial characteristics. The design philosophy centers on the concept of an internal garden that serves as a connecting element between interior and exterior spaces, creating a seamless flow that decelerates the perception of time. The boutique's architectural language is expressed through pure geometric forms, utilizing platforms and ramps that eschew direct historical references, while employing a sophisticated material palette of steel, concrete, and terrazzo. A notable feature is the bespoke hanger lighting system that traverses the space, contributing to its distinctive atmosphere. The design draws inspiration from the fusion of fashion show aesthetics and natural stone formations, manifesting in floating stands that emulate stacked rocky pathways. The space is characterized by its modernist approach, emphasizing functionality over decorative elements, and incorporates an auto-irrigated vertical plant wall that softens the geometric rigidity of the structure.
