Phoenix Tree Garden Tea SpacePhoenix Tree Garden Tea SpacePhoenix Tree Garden Tea Space is an innovative architectural project that masterfully reimagines traditional Chinese garden design principles within a contemporary context. Located in Beijing, this sophisticated tea house complex, designed by Qingfan Zhang and Bo Zhang, spans 214.99 square meters and exemplifies a harmonious blend of traditional and modern design elements. The space's distinctive transformation strategy converts a single large area into an intricate series of interconnected scenic spots, utilizing folding walls and moon doors to alter internal spatial axes. The design incorporates classical Suzhou garden elements, including a small arch bridge inspired by the Net Master Garden and stone paving patterns referencing the Bathing Gull Small Garden. The project's innovative approach to space management is evident in its careful orchestration of elements such as red rock laminar stacks, steel grille bridges with light-transparent properties, and a thoughtful combination of gray and colored cobblestone paving with 10 cm small gray tile work. The garden's composition creates multiple tea rooms, each offering unique perspectives and atmospheric experiences, while maintaining authentic garden aesthetics through the strategic placement of waterways, stacked mountains, and carefully curated viewing angles. The design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category in 2020, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to contemporary architectural design. The project successfully addresses the challenges of limited space and traditional courtyard constraints through innovative spatial organization, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas while preserving the poetic essence of traditional Chinese gardens.
