Ufia HotelUfia HotelUfia Hotel is an innovative interior design project completed in 2019 in Chongqing, China, that masterfully integrates the city's distinctive geographical and cultural elements into its architectural narrative. The 1,200-square-meter space, designed by Xiaobing Yao, represents a sophisticated interpretation of Chongqing's mountainous landscape and waterfront identity through contemporary design elements. The hotel's distinctive features include a dramatic entrance marked by plasterboard peaks finished with black artistic paint, symbolizing the city's rolling hills, while curved carpet patterns and polymer reception desk designs evoke flowing water motifs. The interior's most striking element is a large, shimmering stainless-steel water drop sculpture, which creates a powerful visual focal point under carefully planned lighting. The design employs a carefully curated selection of materials, including floor carpet, dark gray artistic coating, black high-gloss latex paint, rust-like artistic coating, mirror stainless steel, and black rubber, all working in harmony to create a cohesive aesthetic experience. The project, which won the Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases exceptional spatial innovation through its three-dimensional interpretation of Chongqing's landscape, particularly evident in the ceiling's hanging river-like formations and the distinctive water drop-inspired room doorplates. The design successfully overcame significant technical challenges in implementing complex curved surfaces, requiring precise architectural modeling and on-site guidance to achieve a remarkable 95% fidelity to the original renderings.
