Lingering Happiness Furniture ShopLingering Happiness Furniture ShopLingering Happiness Furniture Shop is an award-winning commercial interior design project located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of modern aesthetics with traditional Japanese and Nordic design sensibilities. The 153-square-meter retail space, designed by Jia Ru Chen in 2018, represents a sophisticated approach to furniture showroom design, characterized by its thoughtful material selection and spatial organization. The design philosophy centers on creating a serene and dignified atmosphere through the strategic use of natural elements, including wood planks, marble, tawny glass, and black slope materials, which work in concert to showcase the furniture pieces while maintaining a cohesive spatial narrative. The space features an innovative system cabinet design along the sofa's back wall that challenges conventional carpentry approaches, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and creative ingenuity. The color palette employs low-value tones to establish a solemn yet inviting ambiance, while the balanced distribution of grey-toned sofa seating areas and wooden elements creates a moderate aesthetic that draws from both Japanese and Nordic design traditions. The project's excellence in spatial design, material application, and aesthetic harmony was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, highlighting its contribution to contemporary retail design practices. The space's sophisticated approach to commercial interior design is further enhanced by its attention to detail in lighting, spatial flow, and the careful consideration of how customers interact with both the displayed furniture and the surrounding environment, creating an atmosphere that evokes what the designer describes as lingering happiness - a gentle, enduring sense of wellbeing similar to a morning or sunset breeze.
