Metaphors of Life Residential Apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of modern urban living with spiritual expansion through thoughtful spatial design. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, this 198.348-square-meter dwelling represents a sophisticated merger of two separate housing units, masterfully executed by designer Chao Chien Huang. The project, completed in October 2019, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its axis-aligned layout that seamlessly connects the lounge and study areas while maintaining functional independence. The design philosophy centers on transcending physical space limitations through spiritual extension, achieved through careful integration of cultural art elements and layered life philosophies. The public spaces, characterized by dark color tones, feature a prominent French window that creates an amplified visual effect, effectively bringing urban landscapes indoors while maintaining an open perspective. A notable architectural element is the strategically positioned television wall, which serves the dual purpose of separating the foyer from the dining room while preserving visual connectivity between spaces. The interplay of natural light through large windows creates an ethereal effect, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, allowing residents to experience the passage of time through ever-changing light and shadow patterns.
