Elmina Hotel Boutique HotelElmina Hotel Boutique HotelElmina Hotel Boutique Hotel is an award-winning hospitality design project located in the historic heart of Jaffa, Israel, exemplifying a sophisticated fusion of Ottoman architectural heritage with contemporary design sensibilities. This intimate 10-room boutique hotel, situated in a meticulously preserved Ottoman-era building, offers panoramic views of both the ancient city of Jaffa and the Mediterranean Sea, creating a unique hospitality experience that bridges historical and modern aesthetics. Designed by Michael Azoulay in 2019, the hotel's interior design philosophy masterfully blends oriental charm with European sophistication, featuring distinctive elements such as original arched windows, contrasting stone flooring with colored tiles, and Versailles parquet floors adorned with vibrant African textiles. The design narrative draws profound inspiration from the surrounding cultural landscape, particularly the nearby flea market, incorporating these influences into a cohesive aesthetic that balances nostalgia with modern urban luxury. The project, which garnered recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial optimization and material selection, creating an immersive guest experience that honors the building's historical significance while introducing contemporary comfort. Each of the ten rooms showcases a careful curation of clean-lined modern furniture juxtaposed against color-saturated art pieces, creating distinct personal statements within the overall design scheme. The hotel's strategic location near the Clock Square and Jaffa Port enhances its cultural significance, while its thoughtful design approach successfully preserves architectural heritage while meeting modern hospitality standards.
