Jiao Tang RestaurantJiao Tang RestaurantJiao Tang Restaurant is an innovative hotpot dining establishment located in Chengdu, China, that reimagines traditional dining spaces through a futuristic Neptune-inspired design concept. Completed in January 2020 by architects Liang Chen and Wang Shixue, this 506-square-meter restaurant represents a groundbreaking approach to experiential dining, incorporating elements from film, art, science, and technology to create an immersive gastronomic environment. The space is distinguished by its dominant use of International Klein Blue, symbolizing Neptune's severe weather conditions, and features sophisticated mechanical installations that enhance visitor interaction. The restaurant's design narrative unfolds through seven distinct themes that explore stories of human-nature harmony on Neptune, executed through innovative material combinations including steel plate, terrazzo, tempered glass, and frosted acrylic. Notable design elements include ceiling lamps inspired by Prince Rupert's Drop phenomenon and custom-designed multifunctional dining tables, all manufactured using advanced 3D printing and modeling technologies. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, successfully addresses contemporary urban dining challenges through its unique spatial organization and artistic mechanical devices. The design team's approach focused on creating a five-sense experience, elevating the traditional hotpot dining concept through careful consideration of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, while maintaining operational efficiency within its 277.4-square-meter internal area and 278.6-square-meter outdoor space.
