Black Definition ResidentialBlack Definition ResidentialBlack Definition Residential is an award-winning interior design project completed in 2019 in Taichung City, Taiwan, that masterfully explores the concept of duality in modern living spaces. The project, designed by George PC Kao and Hsin I Lin, encompasses approximately 234.4 square meters and demonstrates a sophisticated approach to balancing public and private spaces through thoughtful spatial division and material selection. The design philosophy centers on addressing the complex interplay between societal expectations and individual authenticity, particularly reflecting the client's dual nature as a modern professional woman. The residence incorporates high-end materials including titanium-plated natural stones, mineral coatings, and lacquered glass, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury while maintaining functional practicality. The layout comprises a foyer, living room, dining room, open kitchen, three bedrooms, and storage space, with particular attention paid to expanding public areas for enhanced social interaction. The designers employed a dichotomous approach, utilizing modernistic lines and proportions to create distinct visual segments between open public spaces and private areas. The project's innovative use of materials and lighting design, combined with its thoughtful consideration of the client's lifestyle needs, earned it recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial design and functionality. The design successfully achieves a harmonious balance between aesthetic sophistication and practical living, incorporating elements of modern urban living while maintaining a deeply personal connection to the inhabitant's identity.
