Slow Living Residential ApartmentSlow Living Residential ApartmentSlow Living Residential Apartment is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of Japanese Zen principles with contemporary living spaces, created by designer Chi Wei Lin. This 524-square-meter residential space masterfully incorporates natural elements and mindful design choices to foster a serene living environment that promotes a slower, more contemplative lifestyle. The design philosophy centers on creating a natural, plain atmosphere where residents can experience spontaneous moments of tranquility while being embraced by carefully curated natural elements. The project's distinctive features include thin slate wall decorations transformed into an elegant TV wall that enhances spatial perception, and thoughtfully designed wood grille installations that filter natural sunlight. The interior demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection, utilizing natural paints and rice straw wall treatments in the tea room and behind the sofa areas to establish a calming atmosphere. Despite the challenge of working within existing structural constraints, including predetermined air conditioning systems and flooring, the design successfully achieves precise conformity while maintaining functionality. The project, completed in 2017 in Taichung City, Taiwan, showcases innovative solutions in space optimization and environmental comfort, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its outstanding achievement in creating a living space that encourages mindful, quality-focused living while seamlessly blending architectural elements with natural materials.
