The Unconventional Waltz Sales Center

The Unconventional Waltz Sales Center

The Unconventional Waltz Sales Center is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the conventional real estate sales center paradigm through its distinctive curved architectural elements and sophisticated material composition. Located in Pingtung City, Taiwan, this 622.9-square-meter commercial space transforms a challenging long, narrow layout into an elegant, fluid environment that defies traditional spatial constraints. The design, created by Chao Yen Chen under the direction of Chen Pei Jung, employs circular and curved design methodologies to reconcile harsh architectural elements with delicate aesthetic features, creating a futuristic commercial environment. The center's distinctive features include a round reception counter crafted from Apollo grey marbles and wire-brushed veneers, which establishes a compelling focal point that embodies accumulative roundness. The design's sophisticated material palette combines warm wood veneers with metal tassels, creating a harmonious interplay of textures that elevates the space beyond conventional sales center aesthetics. Strategic use of mirror columns effectively mitigates the potentially oppressive nature of the narrow space, while pendant lamps and metal tassels along the windows create an artistic window display that enhances the overall visual appeal. The project, which was completed in June 2019, earned recognition with a Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional approach to spatial design and innovative solution to architectural challenges. The design philosophy embraces the principles of Laozi and Zhuangzi, achieving a balanced tension between functionality and aesthetic refinement while maintaining a natural harmony throughout the space.
