Venus 3D Printed CupVenus 3D Printed CupVenus 3D Printed Cup is an innovative drinkware design that exemplifies the convergence of digital fabrication technologies with contemporary industrial design aesthetics. Created by designer Tiger ChongSheng Guo, this sophisticated drinking vessel represents a significant advancement in the application of 3D printing technology to functional homeware. The design draws inspiration from celestial alignments within the solar system, particularly embodying the harmonious relationship between complementary forms. The cup consists of two primary components: a ceramic vessel produced through a specialized 3D printing process utilizing a ceramic-polymer composite material, and a base crafted from wood-infused PLA filament. Following the printing process, the ceramic component undergoes kiln firing and polishing to achieve its final finish, while the wooden base receives careful sanding and staining treatments. The design's dimensions are meticulously calculated, with the complete set measuring 137 x 154 x 109 millimeters, demonstrating precise attention to ergonomic considerations and aesthetic proportions. This work stands out for its innovative approach to manufacturing, eschewing traditional subtractive methods in favor of additive manufacturing, thereby eliminating material waste while preserving the inherent qualities of the materials used. The design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, showcases a unique self-aligning feature where the cup naturally settles into its optimal position on the base through gravitational forces, exemplifying the marriage of functional design with artistic vision.
