Undulating Symphonic Movement Public SpaceUndulating Symphonic Movement Public SpaceUndulating Symphonic Movement Public Space is an award-winning architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates musical aesthetics with functional public space design, created by designer Ya-Ching Yu in Taipei, Taiwan. This innovative 82.5-square-meter lobby space demonstrates a sophisticated marriage of traditional Chinese architectural principles with contemporary design elements, featuring an intricate composition of materials including warm wood, granite, stone, and brass. The design's most distinctive characteristic is its wave-like wooden ceiling, which was meticulously curved and formed on-site, creating a visual representation of musical movement and sound waves. The space is anchored by custom-designed 10-foot entryway doors that incorporate woven brass, wood-grained copper sheeting, and tawny mirror elements, while a floor-to-ceiling window with rhythmically-spaced wrought-iron planks creates a deliberate visual connection to an urban garden beyond. The design draws inspiration from Tang Dynasty architecture, incorporating acoustic properties that create an echo effect when standing in the center of the symmetrical square space. The thoughtful material selection, including chiseled granite walls, marble flooring, and dark teak accents, establishes a harmonious balance between transparency and privacy, modernity and tradition. The centerpiece of the space is a brass tube pendant light resembling organ pipes, further reinforcing the musical theme. This exceptional design was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to public space design and its successful integration of functional requirements with artistic expression.
