Snow Capped Commercial SpaceSnow Capped Commercial SpaceSnow Capped Commercial Space is an award-winning architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of historical preservation and contemporary design aesthetics. Located in Taipei and completed in April 2019, this 435-square-meter commercial space spans three stories and demonstrates exceptional spatial innovation through its metaphorical representation of overlapping mountains and snow-covered peaks. The design, conceived by Joy Chou, masterfully preserves the original brick wall structure while incorporating modern elements, creating a sophisticated juxtaposition of past and present. The space features a refined color palette dominated by white tones, complemented by innovative lighting solutions including glass ball installations that create dynamic ceiling layers. Natural stone surfaces, titanium materials, and indirect lighting are strategically implemented throughout the counter spaces, while the traditional wall partitions have been replaced with curtains and glass elements to enhance spatial flexibility and visual flow. The three-story structure underwent extensive structural reinforcement and reconstruction over a one-year period, resulting in a thoughtful progression of design elements across each floor. The first floor establishes a warm, comfortable atmosphere that extends to the second-floor corridor, while the third floor uniquely combines preserved brick walls with white accents and green plantings, embodying the integration of historical and contemporary design elements. This exceptional commercial space, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in modern commercial architecture, demonstrating how thoughtful design can transform an aged building into a contemporary space that maintains its historical essence while embracing modern functionality and aesthetic sensibilities.
