Jinxiu RestaurantJinxiu RestaurantJinxiu Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese architectural principles with contemporary commercial dining spaces. Located in Nanjing, this 400-square-meter establishment masterfully reimagines the aesthetic essence of Jiangnan gardens through a modern lens, creating an immersive dining environment that resonates with cultural authenticity. The design, conceived by Anfei Ge and completed in 2018, employs sophisticated spatial organization techniques derived from Chinese architecture, particularly evident in its strategic integration of existing structural columns and the implementation of a central axis that establishes a ceremonial progression through the space. The restaurant's interior demonstrates exceptional material innovation, utilizing sea base cloth as an alternative to conventional wallpaper, finished with waterproof latex paint to achieve both practical durability and refined aesthetics. Notable design elements include the abstract interpretation of the bright moon motif, thoughtfully incorporated rock formations, and carefully framed window views that collectively evoke the prosperous atmosphere of historical Jinling. The space planning addresses complex architectural challenges, including an ingenious solution for waterscape installation above building expansion joints through the implementation of a movable stainless steel base. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases remarkable attention to detail in its custom-designed furniture systems, featuring specialized waterproof and oil-resistant upholstery, while the meticulous hand-finished wall treatments ensure precise color matching to design specifications. This sophisticated interpretation of Chinese cultural elements within a contemporary commercial context exemplifies how traditional architectural principles can be successfully adapted to meet modern functional requirements while maintaining cultural authenticity.
