Benaki Museum Pavilion Architectural LightingBenaki Museum Pavilion Architectural LightingBenaki Museum Pavilion Architectural Lighting is an innovative architectural lighting design solution that exemplifies the harmonious integration of illumination with modern architectural elements in a cultural retail space. Created in 2019, this sophisticated lighting system demonstrates a remarkable synthesis of functionality and aesthetics, incorporating custom-designed magnetic spherical fixtures and minimalist track lighting solutions. The design concept draws inspiration from the natural dichotomy of day and night cycles, manifesting through a pivoting entrance gate that features integrated exhibition cases with concealed power infrastructure. The lighting scheme employs recessed tracks between ceiling wooden beams, housing adjustable spotlights that provide adaptable illumination without compromising the space's visual integrity. A particularly noteworthy technical achievement is the innovative solution for the entrance door's lighting, utilizing custom-designed spherical LED fixtures with magnetic mounting capabilities and a microscopically thin power circuit carved into the metal structure. The interior space is enhanced by aluminum foam shelves illuminated through cove lighting in cool white tones, creating a shimmering effect that adds depth and drama to the displayed artifacts. This lighting design, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, showcases exceptional attention to detail through its minimal fixture dimensions, with ceiling tracks measuring just 17mm in width and custom spots as small as 14mm in diameter. The project successfully overcomes significant technical challenges while maintaining aesthetic excellence, particularly in developing a cable-free lighting solution for the pivoting door mechanism.
