TER RestaurantTER RestaurantTER Restaurant is an innovative architectural and culinary concept developed in response to the Art Sella forest calamity in Malga Costa, Italy, embodying a profound exploration of spatial stability and environmental resilience. The establishment's distinctive design manifests as a monolithic stone structure seamlessly integrated into the forest landscape, distinguished by its circular layout spanning 200 square meters and centered around an open-air cooking area that embraces primitive campfire cooking methods. The restaurant's architecture deliberately mimics a massive boulder, utilizing indigenous stone as its primary construction material both externally and internally, creating a harmonious dialogue between built form and natural surroundings. The interior space is thoughtfully segmented into multiple dining zones, including lounge areas, bar seating, traditional table dining, tiered stair seating, and intimate dining spaces, all orchestrated to provide varied dining experiences while maintaining visual connection to the central cooking spectacle. The design's innovative approach to natural illumination is achieved through a circular ceiling aperture, which allows daylight to dramatize the natural stone textures while creating an interplay with artificial lighting on metallic surfaces. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project, recognized in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in its response to environmental challenges, combining architectural stability with experiential dining through its unique interpretation of space, materiality, and culinary presentation. The smoke rising from its central cooking area serves as both a functional element and a symbolic beacon, drawing visitors toward its core and reinforcing its role in revitalizing the Art Sella landscape.
