IE Sushi And Teppanyaki RestaurantIE Sushi And Teppanyaki RestaurantIE Sushi and Teppanyaki Restaurant is an innovative fine dining establishment that masterfully blends Japanese culinary traditions with contemporary Art Deco aesthetics, located in Hong Kong's Victoria Dockside. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning interior space, designed by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang, represents a groundbreaking approach to modern Japanese restaurant design, challenging traditional conventions while maintaining cultural authenticity. The 2,594-square-foot venue showcases a sophisticated fusion of Western and Eastern design elements, featuring extensive use of sapele wood, geometric patterns, and decorative wood moldings that create distinct dining zones with enhanced privacy. The restaurant's architectural highlights include a pentagon-shaped sushi bar with diamond-cutting bulkheads, specially designed Japanese royal crest motifs with Art Deco influences, and metallic dragonfly lightboxes that ingeniously conceal the ventilation system while serving as artistic elements. The design successfully addresses multiple technical challenges, including low ceiling heights and acoustic requirements, through innovative solutions such as strategic light reflection and sound absorption techniques. The space is further enhanced by thoughtful details such as a balcony area featuring solar Japanese floor lamps for sustainable lighting, and custom-designed chandeliers incorporating chrysanthemum motifs in the VIP room. This revolutionary design approach, completed in 2019, has established a new paradigm in the Food and Beverage industry by demonstrating how traditional Japanese dining concepts can be reimagined through contemporary design language while maintaining functionality and cultural sensitivity.
