Unfolding Residential HouseUnfolding Residential HouseUnfolding Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of flexible living spaces with contemplative environments, located on the 23rd floor of a building in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Designed by architect Chienting Chen in collaboration with Harry Chou, this 150-square-meter interior space masterfully responds to its elevated position by incorporating panoramic views into its architectural narrative. The design philosophy centers on the transformation of wide living spaces into multi-defined areas where various activities seamlessly coexist, creating a sophisticated balance between social gathering and personal meditation. The project's distinctive approach involves the strategic unfolding of reading rooms to extend the living core zone, establishing undefined yet purposeful boundaries that enhance spatial fluidity. Notable for its meticulous attention to material integration, the design incorporates stone, iron, wood, glass, leather, and textile elements, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship in the execution of connecting details. The interior arrangement prioritizes ergonomic considerations and maintains proper proportions throughout, resulting in a sophisticated environment that combines functionality with aesthetic refinement. This design achievement was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial innovation and material application. The project, completed between October 2017 and June 2018, successfully addresses the client's requirements for a cozy atmosphere, durable construction, and mature warm style, while creating an environment that encourages both social interaction and introspective moments.
