Winter Navel Orange Package is an innovative packaging design solution that exemplifies the harmonious relationship between nature and agricultural products through its artistic and functional approach. Created by designer Chao Xu with watercolor illustrations by Mohan Ni, this sophisticated packaging system was developed to showcase premium winter navel oranges from an organic farm, emphasizing their unique cultivation process that requires the full cycle of four seasons. The design features an intricate hand-drawn illustration inspired by the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, depicting the transformation of orange trees throughout the seasons using watercolor and colored pencils, which were later digitally enhanced. The package comprises two distinct sizes - a 5kg pack measuring 360x263x141mm and a gift pack measuring 260x260x80mm - and includes information cards, protective sheets, and specialized orange peeler envelopes. The design's artistic approach, combining traditional hand-drawn elements with modern digital techniques, represents a departure from conventional agricultural product packaging, specifically targeting younger generations while maintaining a strong connection to craftsmanship and natural processes. This innovative approach to packaging design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its creative excellence and strategic approach to promoting organic produce through design.
