Cloud Flows ResidenceCloud Flows ResidenceCloud Flows Residence is an award-winning architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural landscapes with contemporary living spaces. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this innovative residential design, completed in June 2019 by designers Hung-Yu Chen and Yi-Chia Kao, demonstrates a masterful approach to spatial transformation through the strategic removal of partition walls and the creation of expansive window configurations. The design's most distinctive feature is its sophisticated use of black granite walls, which create a flowing, meandering texture that mirrors the distant mountain landscapes visible through the residence's large windows. The spatial organization follows a thoughtful layout with private areas positioned at both ends and public spaces centralized, creating a natural flow of movement and visual connection throughout the home. The designers overcame structural challenges by ingeniously integrating the air conditioning system into concealed ceiling beams, maintaining clean visual lines while enhancing the overall spatial perception. The material palette combines black and white granite, limestone bricks, gray mirrors, and iron hardware, creating a sophisticated interplay of textures and surfaces. The project's innovative approach to connecting interior and exterior spaces, particularly through the use of sliding doors with inlaid stone patterns that create varying visual compositions when moved, earned it a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, recognizing its excellence in spatial design and material application.
