Pizza Marzano Select Restaurant is an innovative dining establishment that exemplifies contemporary restaurant design through its geometric-inspired spatial concept, awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The restaurant's design philosophy draws inspiration from the geometric patterns formed when cutting and sharing pizza, transforming this simple act into a sophisticated architectural language. The interior space features distinctive curved elements and half-circle shapes that are consistently applied throughout the environment, from the facade opening structure to column treatments and kitchen walls. The design incorporates acoustic solutions through perforated panels and a unique feature wall adorned with thousands of blue acrylic sticks, which can be reconfigured to create different patterns. The color scheme and material selection maintain brand consistency through bespoke pattern tiles, powder-coated metal finishes, and carefully selected fabrics and leather upholstery, creating a modern 2D geometric scenario. The layout accommodates various group sizes, from individual diners to large gatherings of ten or more, with flexible seating arrangements that promote social interaction. The project, completed in Shanghai in 2019, successfully overcomes budget constraints while implementing large-scale curved elements and custom materials. The design team, led by Michelle Sun with Leah Li and Shirley Wang, created an environment that balances functionality with aesthetic appeal, incorporating sound-proofing solutions and operational efficiency through thoughtfully designed POS stations, dividing partitions, and storage solutions that seamlessly integrate into the overall spatial concept.
