Mobius Lamp

Mobius Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of mathematical principles with functional design aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from the mathematical concept of the Mobius strip, this pendant lamp features a continuous two-sided surface that creates an elegant interplay of light and shadow. Crafted through a sophisticated heat-bending process using bamboo for its exterior shell, complemented by an acrylic lampshade housing LED strips, the design achieves a delicate balance between form and function. The lamp's dimensions of 340mm in length, 76mm in width, and 350mm in height create a perfectly proportioned sculptural element that delivers all-round illumination through its unique dual-shadow surface design. Developed between May 2018 and November 2019 by designers Kejun Li, Zhang Jiahua, and Nitesh Narappa Re, this lighting fixture represents a significant achievement in contemporary lighting design, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category. The design process involved extensive experimentation with paper models, 3D printing technology, and digital modeling to perfect the complex geometric form while maintaining its functional lighting capabilities. The lamp's distinctive aesthetic combines mysterious mathematical beauty with practical illumination, bringing rhythmic elegance to interior spaces while demonstrating innovative approaches to sustainable material usage through its bamboo construction.
