Pop Pop Santa VillagePop Pop Santa VillagePop Pop Santa Village is an innovative spatial experience design project that transformed eight duty-free retail spaces into immersive winter wonderlands, combining cultural elements with retail environments to create an enhanced shopping experience. This sophisticated design intervention, implemented during the winter season, utilized elaborate illustrations by Dutch artist Jordy Van Den Nieubdijk to portray a whimsical Santa Village theme through a distinctive puzzle-like aesthetic approach. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Event and Happening Design category, masterfully integrated neon-flex lights, acrylic, and fomex materials to create three-dimensional linear productions that brought the illustrated elements to life. The design concept focused on creating a narrative that resonated with travelers' precious moments, featuring carefully composed imagery of gift-bearing characters, animals, and trees interconnected through overlapping lines that provided an engaging visual experience akin to solving a puzzle. The implementation across multiple locations required innovative adaptations to accommodate varying spatial configurations and interior designs, demonstrating remarkable versatility in material application, sizing, and technical execution. This seasonal installation, operational from November 2018 to January 2019, represented a significant advancement in retail space design by incorporating cultural elements that transcended traditional shopping experiences, effectively considering the unique visiting patterns of duty-free shop customers while creating an environment that enhanced travel anticipation and enjoyment.
