Huade City Visual IdentityHuade City Visual IdentityHuade City Visual Identity is a comprehensive visual branding system that reimagines the identity of a historically significant military base location in northern China, transforming it into a contemporary tourist destination while preserving its patriotic legacy. The design, created by Fu Yong and recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, ingeniously combines military symbolism with modern design elements. The visual identity's cornerstone is a sophisticated logo that merges a pentagram, representing military heritage through its connection to army flags and epaulettes, with pause and play symbols commonly found on digital interfaces. This dual symbolism effectively communicates both the city's historical military significance and its contemporary invitation for visitors to pause their daily routines and embark on an experiential journey. The design system, developed between July 2019 and February 2020, employs a versatile application approach that functions effectively on both white and red backgrounds, creating a cohesive visual language. Through extensive research and community consultation, the identity system successfully bridges the city's military heritage with its modern tourism aspirations, utilizing thoughtful design elements that resonate with both historical significance and contemporary relevance. The visual identity system demonstrates exceptional versatility in its application across various mediums, with careful consideration given to scaling limitations, particularly in the reproduction of the pentagram element in smaller applications.
