Nostalgia Perfumery StoreNostalgia Perfumery StoreNostalgia Perfumery Store is an innovative retail space design that masterfully reimagines industrial aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, creating a unique shopping environment that challenges traditional luxury retail conventions. Located in Moscow and completed in 2018, this 1,630-square-meter interior space project, designed by architect Dmitry Pozarenko and associate architect Elena Sonyak, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The design concept draws inspiration from abandoned metallurgical workshops, incorporating elements such as hot-rolled steel structures, tinted stainless steel, and weathered profiled sheeting to create an authentic industrial atmosphere. The space's distinctive features include manually processed steel equipment, repurposed window frames arranged vertically on walls, and granite countertops juxtaposed against deliberately distressed plaster, all contributing to a sophisticated industrial aesthetic. This hybrid design approach effectively challenges conventional glamour-oriented retail spaces, instead promoting an atmosphere of democratic accessibility and freedom of expression. The store functions as a vital community hub, attracting over 2,000 daily visitors and hosting various events including product launches, masterclasses by makeup artists, and professional training sessions. The design successfully resolves the tension between individual identity and urban uniformity, creating an environment that inverts traditional retail concepts by bringing urban elements into the interior space, thereby establishing a new paradigm in perfumery retail design that emphasizes authenticity and community engagement over conventional luxury presentations.
