TOKI To TOKI Japanese Traditional HotelTOKI To TOKI Japanese Traditional HotelTOKI to TOKI Japanese Traditional Hotel is an exemplary manifestation of contemporary Japanese hospitality design that harmoniously blends traditional aesthetics with modern sensibilities, situated in the heart of Kinosaki onsen district. This architectural and interior design masterpiece, conceived by lead designer Akitoshi Imafuku, embodies the profound Japanese concept of miyabi (elegance), creating an environment where guests can experience the subtle transitions of seasons and the gentle passage of time. The establishment's name, derived from Chinese characters meaning season and time, reflects its philosophical foundation of providing a sanctuary for temporal contemplation. The design's sophisticated spatial arrangement features thoughtfully placed mushroom-like stools upholstered in Nishijin textile, creating intentional intervals that respect the Japanese cultural value of personal space while facilitating meaningful social interactions. A distinguishing element of the interior is its custom-designed geometrical tatami flooring, complemented by lighting patterns inspired by the adjacent river and willow tree, creating an atmosphere that is both enchanting and serene. The guest rooms showcase unique bed backboards inspired by various elements of Japanese cultural aesthetics, including mizuhiki decorations, pine trees, and lunar motifs. A particularly noteworthy feature is the third-floor bar area, which houses an organically shaped, high-backed sofa adorned with lavishly applied Nishijin textile in a patchwork pattern, created in collaboration with textile designer Jotaro SAITO. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project, completed in 2019, demonstrates exceptional achievement in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, particularly for its innovative use of space and cultural relevance.
