One Jiyang Lake VillaOne Jiyang Lake VillaOne Jiyang Lake Villa is a distinguished residential architectural project completed in 2020, located in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, China, that masterfully integrates contemporary design principles with traditional Zen Buddhist philosophy. The 535-square-meter interior space, complemented by a 200-square-meter garden, represents a sophisticated interpretation of modern oriental living, designed by acclaimed architects Feng Guoqiang and Chen Yan. The project's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the historical significance of Dongdusi Temple and Master Jian Zhen's cultural influence, manifesting in a design approach that emphasizes simplicity, tranquility, and spiritual connection. The villa's vertical architecture spans four floors, featuring a thoughtfully configured layout with a basement dedicated to wine tasting and entertainment, a ground floor encompassing public family spaces, and upper levels housing private quarters with integrated outdoor gardens. The design overcame significant architectural challenges, including the innovative integration of an elevator system within existing structural constraints. Natural materials dominate the construction, with exterior bamboo fencing providing privacy and white latex interior walls ensuring maintenance efficiency. The project garnered international recognition, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional achievement in spatial design, material selection, and philosophical integration. The villa's design philosophy of Do Not Overdo is evident in its minimalist approach, creating a contemporary spiritual residence that successfully balances functionality with aesthetic refinement, while addressing the complex requirements of modern living within a dense urban context.
