Morning Dew Regenerated RingMorning Dew Regenerated RingMorning Dew Regenerated Ring is an innovative jewelry design that exemplifies sustainable luxury through its groundbreaking approach to precious metal recovery and recycling. Created by Chinese designer Xiangzhi Zhao, this environmentally conscious piece represents a significant advancement in sustainable jewelry manufacturing, utilizing a novel method for recovering valuable metals from electronic waste. The ring's design, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, features an elegant form inspired by morning dew drops entwined with vine motifs, measuring 20mm in width, 20mm in depth, and 4mm in height. The piece's distinguishing characteristic lies in its material composition, derived from a pioneering green extraction process that employs amine-containing porous materials to adsorb selected metal ions from electronic waste, allowing for the regeneration of gold and silver while minimizing environmental impact. This innovative process, developed through extensive research and experimentation, operates at specific temperature ranges of 136-140 degrees Celsius for 3-5 hours, achieving optimal polycondensation results. The manufacturing technique represents a significant advancement over traditional pyrometallurgical technologies, which often produce harmful toxins and dioxins. The design addresses the critical environmental challenge presented by electronic waste, considering that according to UNEP statistics, one ton of electronic waste contains approximately 490 kg of recoverable metal, making this approach particularly relevant for sustainable luxury goods production.
