Alpha Series Shaver is an innovative personal care device that exemplifies the convergence of minimalist Scandinavian design principles with advanced grooming technology. Designed by Mert Ali Bukulmez, this semi-professional grooming tool represents a significant advancement in facial care solutions, incorporating both functional excellence and aesthetic refinement. The device features a compact form factor with dimensions of 55mm x 30mm x 150mm, constructed primarily from Xenoy (PBT+PC) through injection molding processes, with Santoprene rubber components added via double injection for optimal grip and comfort. Distinguished by its user-centric approach, the shaver incorporates an intuitive single-button interface with LED feedback system, indicating battery status through white (fully charged) and red (low battery) illumination. A notable innovation is its hygiene-focused design, featuring removable cutting tips that can be stored and sanitized in a dedicated dock equipped with UV light technology. The accompanying storage case, measuring 65mm x 50mm x 135mm, serves dual functions as both a charging station and a cleaning unit. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetic Products Design category, exemplifies a thoughtful balance between functionality and form, addressing contemporary grooming needs while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic appeal. The project, completed in Istanbul during 2019, emerged from extensive market research and focus group studies with men aged 18-50, resulting in a product that effectively addresses common user concerns in personal grooming devices.
