Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ResortCrouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ResortCrouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Resort is an exemplary architectural and interior design project located in Suichang county, China, that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design sensibilities. This 483-square-meter resort manor, designed by He Zhou, represents a sophisticated approach to cultural preservation and modern hospitality design, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The resort's design philosophy draws profound inspiration from the region's rich cultural heritage, particularly its connection to Ming Dynasty dramatist Tang Xianzu, often referred to as the Oriental Shakespeare. The project's architectural and interior elements showcase an exceptional blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern functionality, utilizing locally-sourced materials such as aged elm wood, bamboo, and celadon in innovative ways. The design carefully incorporates time-honored objects and artwork into its interior decorations, maintaining a delicate balance between primitive simplicity and contemporary comfort. Notable features include meticulously restored wooden beams, traditional brick walls, and hand-polished furniture pieces that serve as tangible connections to the past. The resort's integration with its natural surroundings is achieved through thoughtful incorporation of local bamboo and indigenous plants, creating a seamless dialogue between interior spaces and the external landscape. This project, completed between May 2018 and May 2019, demonstrates exceptional achievement in overcoming geographical challenges while creating a harmonious retreat that serves as a bridge between urban lifestyle and rural serenity, earning recognition for its innovative approach to cultural preservation and sustainable design practices.
