Haishang Plaza Mixed-use ArchitectureHaishang Plaza Mixed-use ArchitectureHaishang Plaza Mixed-use Architecture is a significant architectural development located in an old residential district of Zhengzhou city, China, representing an innovative approach to contemporary urban mixed-use design. The architectural complex, completed in 2019, encompasses a total gross floor area of 175,708 square meters and integrates multiple functions including a shopping mall, lifestyle retail spaces, LOFT residences, SOHO units, and office spaces, all unified through a distinctive design language that evokes the imagery of a cruise ship setting sail. The development's architectural composition features a sophisticated terraced massing design that deliberately breaks down the urban fabric to a human scale, creating inviting pedestrian entrances and maximizing street frontage visibility. The project employs advanced construction technologies and materials, including glass fiber reinforced gypsum, glass fiber reinforced concrete, curved ETFE systems, aluminum panels, and sustainable green roof systems. The design's innovative approach to spatial organization incorporates green boxes embedded between the residential towers, serving as communal spaces and pedestrian corridors that enhance social interaction. This architectural achievement, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional integration of commercial and residential programs while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The development's sophisticated facade treatment features soft horizontal lines that visually connect the towers to the podium, creating a cohesive architectural expression that facilitates pedestrian movement throughout the complex. The project's success lies in its ability to create a new business model while simultaneously revitalizing the surrounding community through thoughtful programming and design solutions that address both commercial viability and social sustainability.
