Everything BookEverything BookEverything Book is an innovative print media design project that explores traditional Chinese culture through a sophisticated combination of ancient bookbinding techniques and contemporary design elements. Created by designers Na An and Huanyi Liu, this cultural artifact consists of two books, each measuring 170mm x 300mm x 25mm, that delve into the twelve earthly branches of Chinese philosophy and the concept of natural coexistence. The work distinguishes itself through its meticulous craftsmanship, employing wood and specialized paper materials, while incorporating advanced production techniques such as laser engraving, laser printing, creasing, and hot stamping. The design's philosophical depth is expressed through its unique folding mechanism, inspired by ancient Chinese bookbinding methods, which allows readers to experience a dynamic interaction with the content as pages unfold to reveal varying three-dimensional displays. The layout design masterfully integrates hand-drawn graphics, texture art, and high-gray hues, featuring natural elements such as leaves, buds, flowers, and stones to symbolize the cyclical nature of existence. This work, which garnered recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Print and Published Media Design category, represents a significant achievement in bridging traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design sensibilities. The project's innovative approach to expressing philosophical concepts through physical form demonstrates how traditional media can be reimagined to create meaningful contemporary artifacts that preserve and communicate cultural heritage.
