Camellia RestaurantCamellia RestaurantCamellia Restaurant is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of modern loft aesthetics with French-inspired architectural elements, situated in Hong Kong. The 2,498.9-square-foot establishment, designed by Alvan Suen and team in 2019, represents a sophisticated interpretation of contemporary dining spaces where the thematic use of Camellia flowers creates an immersive visual experience. The restaurant's design philosophy centers on the extensive incorporation of pink hues, drawing inspiration from Paris, the Floral City, and the symbolic meaning of Camellia flowers - elegance, pure love, and beauty. The interior architecture features distinctive elements including custom-made mirror patterns, naturally pink marble tables, and Roman arches that pay homage to the grandeur of Château de Versailles' Galerie des glaces. The space accommodates 132 guests through thoughtfully designed seating arrangements, including bench seating with Camellia patterns, semi-private areas with arch covers, and a private room for fourteen guests. The design successfully overcame significant challenges in creating an Instagram-worthy landmark while maintaining operational functionality, incorporating various seating configurations to cater to different guest preferences and social occasions. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection and spatial organization, featuring antique mirrors that multiply the visual impact of the flower walls while creating an illusion of expanded space. The restaurant's design underwent a two-phase implementation, including a strategic expansion of the kitchen area, showcasing the team's adaptability in meeting evolving operational requirements while maintaining design coherence and regulatory compliance.
