Pardis Kahneh ResidenialPardis Kahneh ResidenialPardis Kahneh Residenial is a distinguished nine-story residential building in Tehran, Iran, that masterfully reinterprets the concept of Persian historical vertical gardens in contemporary architecture. This innovative architectural project, designed by Nima Keivani, seamlessly integrates traditional Iranian architectural elements with modern design principles, featuring a dynamic facade system that combines wooden lattice work and turquoise stone cladding. The building's distinctive design draws inspiration from the historic Baghe Takht in Shiraz and the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon, establishing a vertical garden connection between two existing public gardens in its vicinity. The structure, completed in 2017, encompasses 2,450 square meters of total built area on a 415-square-meter plot, rising to a height of 24.5 meters. Its most notable feature is the interactive wooden facade, featuring a pattern inspired by cedar leaf growth, with panels that can be adjusted by residents for privacy control and natural light modulation. The building incorporates multiple green spaces, including a lobby garden, a sunken courtyard, and a roof garden, creating a harmonious blend of built and natural environments. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a significant achievement in contemporary residential architecture by successfully addressing the challenge of preserving Iranian architectural identity while meeting modern lifestyle demands. The design's attention to space psychology, environmental responsiveness, and cultural sensitivity is evident in its thoughtful integration of traditional elements, such as the use of natural light patterns reminiscent of Iranian traditional architecture, and modern amenities that cater to contemporary living requirements.
