East Sea VillaEast Sea VillaEast Sea Villa is an exemplary residential architectural project completed in Shanghai, China, that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese design elements with modern living requirements. This sophisticated three-story villa, encompassing 420 square meters, represents a thoughtful approach to multi-generational living, accommodating three generations under one roof while respecting their distinct lifestyle needs. Designed by Fangyong Xie and completed in 2019, the villa showcases exceptional attention to environmental sustainability through its extensive use of natural materials, particularly logs and gray marble. The architectural design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese aesthetics, incorporating elements such as symmetrical structures, natural mountain and river landscape backgrounds, and distinctive features like Chinese grilled air conditioning outlets and freehand brushwork paintings. The villa's interior spaces are meticulously crafted to provide specialized areas for each family member, including a dedicated study room for the child and ample storage spaces for the grandparents. A distinguishing characteristic of this project is its commitment to environmental consciousness, achieved through the exclusive use of natural wood products finished with wax coatings and oil treatments, ensuring optimal indoor air quality. The design's excellence was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial organization and sustainable design practices. The villa's design philosophy emphasizes the importance of cytoplasmic interaction between wood and air, resulting in an evolving aesthetic that becomes more refined with age, making it particularly suitable for long-term family occupation of fifteen years or more.
