Codice Wine BottleCodice Wine BottleCodice Wine Bottle is an innovative and sophisticated wine packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of historical manuscript aesthetics with contemporary packaging functionality. Created by Estudio Maba, this design draws profound inspiration from ancient codex books, particularly emphasizing the artistic treatment of drop cap letters that are masterfully embossed on the label surface, creating an almost sculptural quality. The design's distinctive feature lies in its elaborate outer packaging, which incorporates a large-format illustration depicting vintage elements and heraldic symbols, presented in a classic yet vibrant narrative style. The packaging system comprises a Bordeaux bottle adorned with relief-enhanced labels and stamping techniques, complemented by sealed vegetable paper measuring 350 x 350 mm, while the main label spans 140 x 120 mm. The design's interactive element involves a unique unboxing experience where users gradually discover the bottle's contents through a wax-sealed paper wrapping, reminiscent of historical manuscript pages. This exceptional packaging design, which was developed between June 2019 and January 2020, earned recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to the field of wine packaging design. The project successfully bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, creating a timeless piece that not only serves its functional purpose but also tells a compelling visual story through its carefully curated graphic elements and thoughtful material selection.
