Sar Jane Hammer is an innovative adjustable-weight hammer design that revolutionizes traditional hammer functionality through its incorporation of a movable counterweight slider system. Created by designer Nan Wang in collaboration with team members Tiantian Wang, Xiaofei Ma, Xin Guo, and Boyang Hu, this versatile tool addresses the common challenge of requiring multiple hammers for different tasks by introducing a dynamic weight adjustment mechanism. The hammer's sophisticated design features a 310mm total length with a 280mm handle and a 110mm hammerhead, primarily constructed from alloy steel. Its distinguishing feature is the innovative sliding counterweight mechanism integrated into the handle, which enables users to modify the hammer's impact force without altering its total weight of 0.5kg. This adaptable design eliminates the need for multiple hammers, thereby reducing material consumption and associated carbon emissions in manufacturing. The hammer's versatility is further enhanced by its precise weight adjustment capability, allowing users to optimize the tool's performance for various tasks ranging from delicate operations to heavy-duty applications. The design's environmental consciousness and practical functionality were recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Prosumer Products and Workshop Equipment Design category in 2021, acknowledging its contribution to sustainable design innovation and user-centered functionality.
