The designer has long been practicing meditation for destressing and calming the body and mind, and hoping the design of the chair could reflect a completely relaxed condition for the body.

Different from most of the designers receiving academic educations in the field of interior design, Mr. Cherng, a dentist and designer, learns most of the knowledge of interior design by himself except when learning fundamental graphic drawing and space design. The Dr. Cherng’s Residence is a perfect example for a designer who rebuilds the living place on his own. The experiences of being a dentist and his life, in this project, have an impact on making this residence full of simple, Zen, and warm atmosphere, a place reveals a one-of-a-kind aesthetics.

Dentist and designer, these two conflicting and busy occupations, placed on Cherng, are actually at ease, and for many years, he has never stopped the practice, even if teaching outdoors, he will rule out difficult, move time out. With old rock hippie outfit, indeed he doesn't look like a doctor, like an artist.
