The design of the bent laminations in the bows provides a natural buoyancy for a true feeling of relaxation while the laminated seat and back supports cradle one in complete comfort. Most notable include the late Sam Maloof, who won the MacArthur Genius Grant for his work in woodworking and furniture design, Frank Pollaro, CEO of Pollaro Custom Furniture and celebrity designer, and master woodworker Christian Becksvoort. Brian is also a machine designer and tool maker. Lie-Nielsen owns the rights to Boggs shave horse and 3 spokeshave designs, which are sold, used and praised by professionals and amateurs alike globally. There are many happy owners of Boggs Spokeshaves, including former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
