This four-story home, nestled in the countryside of Yilan, Taiwan, belongs to a couple from Spain and Taiwan. The design blends Chinese and Spanish traditions, reflecting a deep love for both the native land and heritage. A triangular roof adorned with Spanish tiles, along with screens and Chinese totems, create a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. The space is enhanced with natural tones that invite inclusivity, where materials, textures, and colors work together to evoke memories and forge a connection between people, their roots, and the land.

In his book, design genius Nendo Sato Oki mentions, "In this age of information overload, perhaps we shouldn't look outward for sources of inspiration. Designs that stem from intrinsic emotions and tactile sensations might be the most important." A good designer is like both a scholar and a paparazzo, always carrying a researcher's curiosity and a gossip seeker's persistence. Before starting any design work, it's crucial to gather information through extensive conversations with users or residents. From these interactions, we can unravel and discover the true needs of the space – something we call "profiling the space." With years of accumulated experience, Dhouse uses a systematic approach to guide each client in clearly summarizing and envisioning the imagined form of their space.
